Can server UP/DOWN alerts be sent as an SMS or Text Message to my phone?

Yes, if you want to receive alert messages to your phone as an SMS or Text Message, you need to do two things. First, you need to create an alert list. Secondly, you need to edit your user profile and add a mobile number. To access your user profile, click the ACCOUNT link in the upper right corner of the management portal. Then click the USERS tab. Select the user account you wish to modify, and click EDIT from the tool bar. In the dialog box that opens, you can now enter the mobile number (and test it, if you wish). Don’t forget to click the “Enable SMS” checkbox to enable SMS messages. This checkbox makes it easy to temporarily disable it without having to delete the mobile number. You’ll know SMS messages are enabled because in the Alert List it will say “sms” beside the first and last name of users that have been added to the list, or are available to be added.

What format is required for the mobile number? In Canada, the United States and the Caribbean, simply enter the 3 digit area code and 7 digit number without any spaces. You do not need a 1 in front or a +. For example, you could enter 2125551234 for a New York City number. In other countries, you will need to enter a + followed by your country code and the entire number, again without any spaces. For example, in the United Kingdom, your phone number would start with +44, but you would not follow that with a 0 (zero).
