Cloud Platform Release v24.5.3

After a few months of hard work, our development team is pleased to release version 24.5.3 that introduces a couple new features and fixes a few of bugs. Below are the details!

• DNS ANAME: This functionality has been requested for a long time and now allows you to create what is equivalent to a CNAME record at the root of your domain. CNAME records don’t let you do that, but many cloud providers, CDNs and others assume you can, so DNS providers invented the ANAME concept and we’ve adopted it too. .
  
  
  
  
• DNS Change Alerts: Do you want to know when a change is made to one of your zones by someone or something other than you? The new DNS Change feature can be configured to send you an email notification when a change is made and will highlight the differences seen.
  
  
  
  
• Network Stats Detail: You asked for more detailed statistical information for networking packs, so we’re delivering. Now when you go to the Networking > Statistics page, you will see a new expand icon to get a lot more statistical detail and you can even download current and historic information in CSV format.
  
  
  
  
  
• Accidental Firewall ACL Deletion: Every once in a while someone would accidentally delete a firewall ACL entirely instead of a single rule inside. As you can imagine, this is a pretty big mistake to make, so we added some additional UI validation that will hopefully prevent this in the future.
  
  
• SSL Session Persistence Method: We improved the UI validation to ensure that the SSL Session persistence option is not allowed except for when the HTTP or SSL protocol is selected. On occasion this would be selected but since it is not supported for all protocols, it would cause a back-end error.
  
  
• Database Cleanup for Also Notify: We added a little cleanup code for the DNS Also Notify column. When a domain was deleted, we didn’t properly cleanup unused IPs, so we’ve corrected that now to keep things tidy.
  
  
• API User: We corrected a small UI bug whereby a user configured for API use only could also receive billing related emails. Or at least the checkbox was there, so we removed it.
  
  
• Hostname Regex bug: We corrected a bug in the regex for CNAME alias validation that would lock up the modal. Not the end of the world, but certainly quite annoying.
  
  
• DNS Zone Export: We improved the DNS Import/Export tab for larger customers or resellers with numerous domains. Occasionally a long list of domains would not properly load in the drop-down menu, so we added the ability to first choose the company which nicely cuts down on the list making the page and drop-down load faster.
  
  
• Back-end TLS: We implemented some back-end TLS upgrades/improvements to ensure continued security plus performance between different components of our infrastructure.
  
  
• Domain Copy: We improved our domain copy function to also copy suspended DNS records but keep them suspended in the newly created zone.
  
  
• Domain Push: On occasion, it may be desirable or necessary to increase the SOA Serial number for a domain without wanting to make any other modification. To address this we added a “push” button on the domain toolbar. After selecting the zone in the table, you can click push which will increment the SOA Serial by one and push it out to the platform.
  
  
• DNS Failover Speed: We made a number of behind-the-scenes improvements to how DNS Failover updates are processed specifically as it relates to failover pools that are attached to multiple DNS A or AAAA records. This type of update is now substantially quicker to process.
  
  
• WAF Log page: We made a few improvements to the WAF Log tab to improve the loading speed. For customers with numerous WAF Policies or sub-accounts, we now have an account drop-down and we have drastically improved the drawing speed of the Attack Source Cities map to provide a better experience. We have other improvements in the pipeline for our next release as well.
  
  
• Connection Monitor Block Link: We corrected a bug in the “block” link that would occasionally prevent easy blocking of an IP in the Connection Monitor table.
  
  
• TOTP QR Code: We fixed a bug that was preventing the TOTP QR code from loading which is needed when registering your favorite two-factor authentication app.
  
  
• Back-end maintenance tools: We deployed some new back-end tools that will make maintenance of our infrastructure easier as we continue to expand our platform significantly. These tools will allow us to more effectively perform maintenance at any time which is increasingly important for us as our clients are global and there is no single maintenance time window that works for everyone anymore.
